European Regulation for Fire Suppression Systems R107
In February of 2018, the European Regulation for Fire Suppression Systems on Buses R107 was published. Our water mist fire suppression system, Fogmaker, is approved and compliant with this regulation.
Diseños y Montajes Mecánicos S.L. has been the exclusive distributor of Fogmaker in Spain and Portugal for over 10 years, and in October 2016, we were the first system to receive this approval.
UNECE Nº 107 CERT. Nº 06001 (2017-01-18)
From our R&D department, we continuously work on improving our products, opening new markets, and incorporating new applications that optimize safety and contribute to reducing pollution.
The fire test procedure consists of four tests following the SP 4912 method:
* Test conducted with the extinguishing system container cooled to -30°C.
Specifications of the Fogmaker fire test system for R107:
- Gross volume “Engine compartment”: 4m3.
- Extinguisher volume: 6.1 liters.
- Number of extinguishing nozzles: 11.
- Nozzle type: “Hollow cone nozzle” 1.2 L/min.
- Farthest distance of the nozzle: 8m.
Scale 'Up and Down' (Sx) depending on the volume of the engine compartment:
The minimum extinguisher volume is equal to::
- Engine compartment (x) > 4m3 : Sx= [(0,1 * X) + 0,6] * 6,1
- Engine compartment (x) < 4m3 : Sx= [(0,15 * X) + 0,4] * 6,1
Minimum number of nozzles is equal to:
- Engine compartment (x) > 4m3 : Sx= [(0,1 * X) + 0,6] * 11
- Engine compartment (x) < 4m3 : Sx= [(0,15 * X) + 0,4] * 11
Example:
For an engine compartment of 3m3, the minimum extinguisher volume will be:
- [(0,15 * 3) + 0,4] * 6,1 = 5,19 Liters.
The minimum number of nozzles for this system will be:
- [(0,15 * 3) + 0,4] * 11 = 9 Nozzles.
